2027 GMC Sierra EV: What’s New, What’s Changing, and What Stays the Same
The 2027 GMC Sierra EV is not a redesign. It is the fourth model year for GMC’s electric pickup, and the biggest change is one you will notice at the charger: a native NACS charge port that plugs straight into Tesla Superchargers. Around that sit new standard camera features, upgraded standard mirrors, four new colors, a new Denali Dark Package, and new dealer-installed accessories, including Brembo brakes. The lineup also gets simpler, with six trim and battery combinations instead of seven. Whether you drive a 2026 Sierra EV now or you are shopping for an electric pickup in Belvidere and the Rockford area, this guide covers exactly what is different, plus what carries over.

What Is New on the 2027 Sierra EV
A Native NACS Charge Port
For 2027, the Sierra EV trades its CCS1 charge port for a native NACS port (SAE J3400, the Tesla-style connector), so compatible Tesla Superchargers become plug-and-go with no adapter. The included dual-level charge cord uses the new connector as well. For other chargers, dealer-installed packages bundle the adapters you need: the Level 2 and Fast Charging Adapter Package includes J1772 AC and CCS1 DC adapters, the Charging Essentials Package adds the GM PowerUp 2 home charger (11.5 kW), and the Premium Charging Package adds the GM Energy PowerShift bidirectional charger (19.2 kW), which supports vehicle-to-home power with the right home equipment.
New Standard Camera Features
An interior camera is now standard on every trim, adding Cabin Glance (a quick remote look inside the cab) and interior security recording. The standard HD Surround Vision camera system also adds Surround Vision Recorder and Security Recordings, which can capture exterior footage, including when the security alarm is triggered.
Upgraded Mirrors Are Now Standard
Heated, power-adjustable, power-folding outside mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming are now standard on every Sierra EV, replacing the previous manual-folding and power-adjustable mirror options. The antenna is also now finished in gloss black on all models.
Four New Colors
Four new extra-cost colors join the palette. Azurite Blue Metallic and Dark Ridge Metallic are offered on every trim, Deep Void Matte is offered on the AT4 and Denali, and Marine Teal is offered on the Elevation and AT4. All four arrive after the start of production, so early 2027 trucks may come in carryover colors.
A New Denali Dark Package
The new Denali Dark Package blacks out the assist steps, grille surround, and nameplates and adds dark wheels. On the Denali Extended Range it includes 22-inch Painted Deep Space wheels with a black lug nut and wheel lock kit, upgraded to new 24-inch 6-split-spoke High Gloss Black wheels when the Denali Reserve Package is added. On the Denali Max Range, the 24-inch wheels come with the package. Reported pricing is $675 on the Denali Extended Range and $4,125 on the Denali Max Range, and the package arrives after the start of production.
New Dealer-Installed Accessories, Including Brembo Brakes
The dealer-installed accessory list adds a Front and Rear Performance Brake Kit with red Brembo 6-piston front calipers, larger rotors and pads, and red rear calipers (reported at $5,595; Elevation and Denali only). Also new are front auxiliary off-road lights, 24-inch Bright PVD wheels for the Denali with the Reserve Package, MultiPro Tailgate step lights, and a wired trailer view camera (all trims except the Elevation Standard Range). Kunes GMC of Belvidere can quote and install any of them.
What Is Changing From the 2026 Sierra EV
The Denali Standard Range Is Retired
The Denali is now offered with the Extended Range or Max Range battery only. The 2026 Denali Standard Range (EPA-estimated 283 miles of range) does not return, which takes the lineup from seven trim and battery combinations to six. The Elevation Standard Range remains the entry point to the lineup.
2027 Sierra EV Pricing
Reported starting prices for each 2027 configuration (including the $2,595 destination charge) are:
| Configuration | Starting Price |
| Elevation Standard Range | $65,995 |
| Elevation Extended Range | $73,695 |
| Denali Extended Range | $81,295 |
| AT4 Extended Range | $82,695 |
| AT4 Max Range | $93,395 |
| Denali Max Range | $102,395 |
The Denali Extended Range actually starts slightly below the AT4 Extended Range. Pricing shown does not include taxes, title, license, or dealer fees; ask Kunes GMC of Belvidere for current numbers on a specific vehicle.
Four Colors Are Retired
Deep Bronze Metallic, Deep Ocean Metallic, Magnus Gray Matte, and Thunderstorm Gray do not return for 2027. If one of those is your color, 2026 inventory is your last chance.
What Stays the Same
Every Sierra EV is still a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive crew cab with a 5-foot-11-inch bed, offered in Elevation, AT4, and Denali trims. Output ranges up to 760 horsepower and 785 lb.-ft. of torque depending on battery and trim, and DC fast charging speeds carry over at up to 220 kW on the Standard Range, 300 kW on the Extended Range, and 350 kW on the 800-volt Max Range. Capability holds steady at up to 12,500 lbs. of towing when properly equipped and up to 2,250 lbs. of payload on the Standard Range truck. Super Cruise remains standard on the AT4 and Denali and available on the Elevation Extended Range, and the eTrunk front storage, MultiPro Midgate, and MultiPro Tailgate all carry over. The Sierra EV is still built at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Michigan, and standard GM coverage applies, including 8 years or 100,000 miles on the EV battery and electric propulsion components, whichever comes first.

Should You Buy a 2026 Sierra EV or Wait for the 2027?
Go with the 2027 if you want the native NACS port, the new interior camera features, one of the new colors, or the Denali Dark Package. A leftover 2026 can make more sense if a discount outweighs the updates, if you want a Denali with the Standard Range battery, if you want Deep Bronze Metallic, Deep Ocean Metallic, Magnus Gray Matte, or Thunderstorm Gray, or if you want a truck in your driveway now, since 2027 production begins in October 2026. A 2026 can still use Tesla Superchargers with an adapter. Either way, we will work through the numbers with you, with no pressure. We make it EASY!
